My question is about the identity of this user… who alone has indexed and uploading a incredible amount of materials in the IA site:
¡¡¡+500,000 volumes!!!
All of them was toked of the Googlebooks project, and this means a duplicity of contents. The directories where the files are being stored shown a copy of the book, the version of the book in graphic format, and in each web page where the info about the book is published, the ‘pdf’ link redirect to the respective page in Googlebooks.
At this time i have not any answer, but i guess this can be a very large project to make some ‘repository’ or mirror inside IA of some books previously stored and keeping by the GB’s project.
My principal fear deals with the first intention of this user. A big part of the volumes in GB have poor quality, unreadable pages, and over all, is not necessary to have an automated mirror in IA if inside GB these books are available to all the public. With only a simple link this user can make a better work what if is storing whole volumes existing in other places. The amount of books is very impressive, and, at my point of view, is very strange no one advice about that has been communicated by the IA team.
I hope this user proceed on a ‘good faith’ basis. But, at least, is clear the Googlebooks project have big troubles, very big troubles, with the method of indexation used to found the books cataloged and stored. I deal with this in august, when i was making the PL list.
If Googlebooks does not correct this issue, in a close future we will be unable to find any book in the site.
