Pilipos has encountered the Tomus IV inside GB.

The item has some pages in color mixed between the b/w scans, the quality of the digitazion is poor but the text is readable.

The item can be accessed into the GB site via:

If you live outside the US maybe will need a proxy to download the book. Anyway, if the download by this method is not possible for you, then can download the copy of this item we had stored in RS.

In this case, only go to :

Ephraem the Syrian

From Wikipedia
Ephrem the Syrian (Syriac: ܐܦܪܝܡ ܣܘܪܝܝܐ, Mor Afrêm Sûryāyâ; Greek: Ἐφραίμ ὁ Σῦρος; Latin: Ephraem Syrus; ca. 306 – 373) was a Syrian deacon, prolific Syriac-language hymnographer and theologian of the 4th century. He is venerated by Christians throughout the world, and especially among Syriac Christians, as a saint. Ephrem wrote a wide variety of hymns, poems and homilies in verse, as well as prose biblical commentaries. These were works of practical theology for the edification of the Church in troubled times. So popular were his works, that, for centuries after his death, Christian authors wrote hundreds of pseudepigraphous works in his name. Ephrem’s works witness to an early form of Christianity in which western ideas take little part. He has been called the most significant of all of the fathers of the Syriac-speaking church tradition… [more]

Aphraates, the Persian Sage (ca. 270 – ca. 345)

Article from Wikipedia

Aphrahat (ca. 270–ca. 345; Syriac: ܐܦܪܗܛAp̄rahaṭ; also Greek Ἀφραάτης, and LatinAssyrian [1] [2] [3] author of the fourth century from Persia, who composed a series of twenty-three expositions or homilies on points of Christian doctrine and practice. He was born in Persia around 270, but all his known works, the Demonstrations, come from later on in his life. He was an ascetic and celibate, and was almost definitely a son of the covenant (an early Syriac form of communal monasticism). He may have been a bishop, and later Syriac tradition places him at the head of Mar Matti monastery near Mosul, in what is now northern Iraq. He was a near contemporary to the slightly younger Ephrem the Syrian, but the latter lived within the sphere of the Roman Empire. Called the Persian Sage (Syriac: Aphraates) was an ܚܟܝܡܐ ܦܪܣܝܐ, ḥakkîmâ p̄ārsāyā), Aphrahat witnesses to the concerns of the early church beyond the eastern boundaries of the Roman Empire. He is commemorated as a saint with a feast day of April 7.
[…]
Aphrahat’s works are collectively called the Demonstrations, from the identical first word in each of their titles (Syriac:
ܬܚܘܝܬܐ, taḥwîṯâ). They are sometimes also known as “the homilies”. There are twenty-three Demonstrations in all. Each work deals with a different item of faith or practice, and is a pastoral homily or exposition. The Demonstrations are works of prose, but frequently, Aphrahat employs a poetic rhythm and imagery to his writing. Each of the first twenty-two Demonstrations begins with each successive letter of the Syriac alphabet (of which there are twenty-two).

Obs. 1: There isn’t English translations for all 23 homilies.

Obs. 2:
Just for a side note, Greeks had called Aramaic by a word they coined, “‘Syriac”, and this term was used in the West, but not in the East, where it has always been known by its own name, ‘Lishana Aramaya’ (Aramaic language). So, syriac is not a “dialect” of aramaic, syriac IS aramaic.

Published Paris : Firmin-Didot; then Brepols.

Editors: Graffin, R. (René), 1856-1941; Nau, François, 1864-1931; Max, Prince of Saxony, 1870-1951; then Francois Graffin
